This blog is written for congregational leaders (both clergy and lay) who are interested in exploring the unique challenges of life and leadership in the large congregation.

Leaders in the large congregation often report feeling overwhelmed and isolated. Denominational leaders rarely understand the inner workings of the large congregation, and leadership resources seldom address the unique dynamics of congregations with more than 400 in average weekly attendance (or more than 1,000 membership families in the synagogue).

My name is Susan Beaumont and I am a Senior Consultant with the Alban Institute, specializing in the unique dynamics of the large congregation. Welcome to my world! As a follower of this blog you will share in my work, hear what I’m encountering in my practice, and partner with me in meaning making. We’ll focus primarily on strategy, structure and leadership issues in large congregational settings.

Come on inside!
